Terms of Service
These terms govern use of the Grocery Buddy mobile app and related services. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them.
The service
Grocery Buddy helps you plan grocery lists, run shopping trips, read till slips and handwritten lists you upload, and (if you opt in) suggest items you may need. Features may change. Early and beta builds may be unstable.
Your account
You must provide accurate details you control (email or a Google / X sign-in). Keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity on the account. We may suspend or close an account that is abused, unlawful, or a risk to other users or the service.
Acceptable use
Do not use the app to break the law, upload content you have no right to share, attack or overload the service, or try to access another person’s account or data. Receipt photos may include personal information; only upload slips you are allowed to use.
Your content
You keep ownership of lists, trips, and photos you submit. You grant us a licence to process them solely to run Grocery Buddy (including sending images to our vision provider for a read, and using finalised trips for suggestions if you accepted the ML terms).
Suggestions
Personalised suggestions are optional and have their own in-app terms. They are estimates, not advice. Check prices and products yourself in store.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is”. We do not promise that matches, prices, totals, or suggestions are complete or correct. We are not liable for shopping decisions, missed items, or store pricing.
Liability
To the extent South African law allows, Buddy Software is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for a claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim (which may be zero while the app is free).
Privacy
How we handle personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Ending use
You may stop using the app at any time. Ask us to delete the account at support@buddysoftware.org until in-app deletion ships. We may stop providing the service with reasonable notice where we can.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. If a court finds one part unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top is the version. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
