Delete your account
This permanently deletes your Grocery Boffin account. You can do it in the app, or by email if you no longer have the app.
In the app
- Open Grocery Boffin and go to Profile.
- Under Sign out, choose Delete account.
- Read the warning, then type DELETE and confirm.
When that finishes, you are signed out. If it does not finish, you stay signed in. Try again, or email us. If your installed version does not show Delete account, use the email below.
By email
Write to support@buddysoftware.org from the email address on the account. The subject “Delete my Grocery Boffin account” is enough. We do not need a password.
We complete an email request within 30 days, and we reply to that same address when it is done.
What is deleted
- Lists only you can see, including their items.
- Shops only you took part in.
- Your buddy connection and invite code.
- Your name, email, and machine-learning choice, and the prediction data tied to you.
What someone else keeps
- A list you shared is handed to that buddy, and they keep the items.
- A list someone shared with you stays with them.
- Shops you already ran with someone else stay in their history. Your name is no longer shown on them.
What we keep, without your name
- Catalogue products stay. Your name is removed from any product you added.
- A product report you filed stays so the report itself is not lost. The comment is cleared, and it is no longer tied to your name.
- We keep the account id and the date it was deleted, without your name or email, so the account cannot be opened again.
- Store billing notices stay without your account id, so a repeated notice from the store is not treated as a new purchase.
- Where a record has to name who did something, we store the word “deleted” instead of your account.
Shops in the catalogue, prices, and other reference data that are not your account stay.
We do not bring a deleted account back from a backup. A copy that is still inside a routine backup is discarded when that backup expires. If the law requires a short extra record that the request was handled, we keep only that record.
A subscription is not cancelled
Deleting the account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. It keeps billing until you cancel it. Manage or cancel it in Google Play subscriptions. An App Store subscription is cancelled in your Apple ID subscriptions, not by deleting the account.
